The rumours came in mid of last week and seem to get more evidence by a recent publication of Reuters: Japan’s car electronics company Pioneer seems to be in the final stage of selling its entire DJ department. The deal is valued at US$ 570 million.
This is part of a massive sell off of non-core departments to focus on the automotive electronics business. The deal surprises as the DJ equipment business was reported profitable in the latest financial year to March. For years, Pioneer has lead the charge in the DJ tech space, playing an essential role in the rapid adoption of DJing by way of its ground-breaking CDJ and mixer technology.
