Pioneer announced a new product that makes total sense in today’s DJ technology. Leaving out any CD-compability, the new XDJ-1000 is the first „CD-Player“ that only works on USB technology. And it’s only the beginning: this is „the first in a new line-up of digitally focused, USB-only, rekordbox-ready players“ according to Pioneer. Taking the fact that so many DJs are relying on USB sticks and computers alone for their sets, this move is a logical evolution of the technology behind the decks.

So what’s new on the XDJ-1000? It’s the first machine to introduce an LCD touchscreen. The new interactive display allows for better search functionality as well as new performance options. It’s also includes some of the features from Pioneer’s CDJ-2000 Nexus line such as Slip Mode or Beat Sync.

The lack of CD compatibility has resulted in a much lower price, making the XDJ-1000 a more affordable option for DJs looking to step into the professional club world. It will be in stores late November 2014.
