The Boston concert was the kickoff for Avicii’s eastern USA and Europe tour until the end of Setptember, but is now connected to tragic news. As several sources from Boston report, more than 50 people were hospitalized on Wednesday night while visiting the live performance of the Swedish superstar. With ages ranging from 16 to 25, the patients have been taken to the hospital to be treated for dehydration, drug and alcohol-related issues, according to the Boston Globe.
This is the latest report in an increasing series of incidents at US Dance events. Last month, twenty nine people were hospitalized at an Avicii show in Toronto. Boston saw three overdoses last August at a Zedd show with a 19 year old woman dieing at the hospital after that event. Two deaths at Made Event’s Electric Zoo in New York prompted the cancellation of the third day of the festival. This past weekend at Electric Daisy Carnival in Las Vegas, two men died after attending the three day long festival. Both causes of death are inconclusive and pending toxicology reports.
